Dealers could meet the manufacturers in a separated business center, away from the crowds. One of the most recognized presentations at the "Games Convention", Electronic Arts, the world´s biggest developer of computer games from the USA.<p> <p>The contract contained the development and realisation of conception, construction, sound-, lighting- and video engineering, computer and paddle technics, as well as logistic and organisational supervision of the stand during the event.</p> <p>In the preliminary discussion Electronic Arts had pointed out that the presentation of the games has the highest priority on the stand. Therefore the games were organised in four genres: sports, adventure, strategy and action. Each genre should be presented in a unique surrounding. We tackled the task by constructing an arena-shaped stand with two tribunes, and generating the unique surrounding of each genre through lighting design, together with all-around video projection on thirteen screens, each lit by a 12.000 ANSI Lumen video projector.</p> <p>The concrete construction consisted of a cross-beam framework that was covered with specially produced elastic canvas. The canvas was lit by 120 washlights in different colours. More 30 moving lights were mounted on a lighting grid over the stand´s area. The presentation of each games genre was initiated by a trailer, projected on the video screens, while the colour of the<br>stand´s skin and area were changing. The trailer was a 15-minute light and video show, completely pre-produced and timecode-controlled.</p> <p>Further on introductions into the games designed for PC, Sony Playstation 2, Nintendo Gamecube and Microsoft X-Box were given by the particular designers. Therefore two additional paddles in the center of the stand and two extra video screens were available, lit by 16.000 ANSI Lumen video projectors. To support the presentations we produced all soundtracks in Dolby Digital 5.1. Playback, of course, was also done on a 5.1 system.</p> <p>The outcome: Multi-media around the clock became the highlight for the exhibition visitors, which was later reflected in the papers. After the exhibition a renowned PC games magazine published the results of an internet survey.
